What is the SoleMate?

The SoleMate is a cork balance training tool designed to support foot and lower limb strength, balance, coordination, and mobility over time. It is a training tool, not a medical device, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition.

What does the SoleMate actually do?

The SoleMate creates three main training inputs:

  • Balance and stability challenge: the curved cork surface creates an unstable base, which challenges your balance systems (including proprioception) and foot control.
  • Load through the foot: the surface creates meaningful pressure through the forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot. Over time, this can support better load tolerance through the arches and stronger foot function.
  • A complete system (not one single tool): the beam, mini roller, and toe bands work together to support strength, mobility, and coordination as part of progressive training.

Why train balance, proprioception, and foot function?

Balance is not just a skill for sport. It underpins everyday movement and long term physical independence.

  • For life: balance and foot control support confident walking, stairs, uneven ground, and getting back up from slips or stumbles.
  • For training and sport: better proprioception and stability can improve coordination, change of direction control, and how efficiently you move under load.
  • For long term health: consistent balance and strength training supports mobility as you age, and can help you stay active with fewer movement limitations.

What likely improves with consistent use?

People often notice changes in stages:

  • Days: increased awareness of your feet and how you load the ground
  • Weeks: improved balance, ankle mobility, and stability
  • Weeks to months: stronger feet and lower legs, better arch control, coordination, and more resilient feeling movement

Who is the SoleMate for?

The SoleMate is a good fit for people who want to:

  • Build stronger feet and ankles
  • Improve balance and coordination
  • Add progressive lower limb training at home

If you are currently injured, have significant pain, have a diagnosed condition affecting your feet, ankles, or balance, or you’re unsure whether it is appropriate for you, it is safest to check with a qualified practitioner first.

The right practitioner, such as a physio or podiatrist can help you work out whether this kind of balance and foot training is appropriate right now.

If you want to find a practitioner who understands TFC’s approach, you can browse the directory here: TFC Pro Directory

How do I use the SoleMate?

Use the SoleMate Training Program as your main pathway

Every SoleMate purchased from TFC includes access to the SoleMate Training Program via the TFC App (Phone or Desktop).

This is the best way to learn:

  • how to set up safely
  • how to progress step by step
  • how to choose the right level for you

If you bought your SoleMate from a wholesaler or a third party (not directly from TFC), you can still access your training; scan the QR code on your SoleMate box to get started.

If you no longer have the box, please email [email protected] with:

  • a photo of your SoleMate, and
  • who you purchased it from
  • your receipt, invoice, or order details

Start simple

Most people do best with short, consistent sessions. A good starting point is:

  • 5 to 10 minutes, 3 to 5 days per week
